Comic-Con 2012 Badge Resales

Comic-Con 2012 Badge Resales post thumbnail image

I know lots of you have been waiting on news about the resale for badges into the 2012 Comic-Con. Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the resales will be happening soon! The folks at CCI have sent an email stating that they will be closing the Member ID site over the Memorial Day weekend to prepare for the sales, so if you havent created the member IDs or know some one who hasnt, do it now.

Now here is the bad news. They have received so few four day badges via cancelations that they will only sell single day passes at this time. They state that they have 5,000 but it is unclear if they are 5,000 per day or 5,000 all together. They did it this way to accomodate as many people as possible who would like to get in, but that is still going to cause some issues on the internet.

From a business stand point this was the best course of action. The more individuals allowed entry, the more revenue there is to be generated for vendors. Like many others, I do most of my shopping on one day or even before I get there. In terms of money, I am basically DOA as soon as I get to day two and am a waste of space on the floor. But someone else entering the floor for the first time is like a fresh wallet shaped piñata that the vendors can’t wait to bust open.

As always, good luck to those of you who need it and I hope this information has been helpful. Now, here is the full text.

Dear Friends,

The Comic-Con Member ID website will be closing May 24th (5:30 Pacific Time: PT) in advance of our cancelled and returned badge resale. The badge resale will not take place over the Memorial Day weekend or on Memorial Day. If you know someone who would like to participate in the badge resale, but has not yet signed up for a Member ID, please instruct them to sign-up as soon as possible. The only way to participate in the badge sale is to have a Member ID.

We have struggled with how to offer our returned badges for sale this year. Because of time constraints our choices were to not have a resale this year or use the online system we have in place. We know there are a lot of you counting on the resale to attend Comic-Con so we have decided to have a resale and to use the system we currently have in place. Since we received so few returned Comic-Con 4-day badges, we decided to split them into single day badges to accommodate more people who want to attend this year.

We will have 5,000 single day badges available for purchase.

It is important to remember that while great efforts have been taken for the badge resale to proceed smoothly, it is probable that the number of people attempting to purchase a badge, or technical issues, could have a negative impact on the process and your ability to get a badge for Comic-Con 2012.

This will be the last badge sale for Comic-Con 2012. Once the allotted number of badges have been sold, regardless of any problems, badge sales will be considered closed and final for this year’s Comic-Con.

If you would like to participate in the resale, please go to http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_reg.php for additional information.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
