During today’s quarterly earnings call, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot dropped some news on the next release of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, set for release in fiscal year 2014 (ie: April 1st, 2013 – March 31st, 2014), keeping in step with the annual releases the game series has seen since the release of 2009′s Assassin’s Creed II.

“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in financial year ’14, we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise,” said Guillemot. “It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game.”

Guillemot also added that Ubisoft will share more details on the next Assassin’s Creed title “very soon.”

Fans of Colonial hero Connor will be sad to see him go after just one game, but with the ending of Desmond’s story it makes sense to have an entirely new lineage all together.

Look for more details in the coming weeks as PAX East approaches.
