Hey everyone, Melinda here. With SDCC over and July coming to a close, that means it’s time to focus in on those local cons that pop up all over. This year, I have the fortune of attending Wizard World Chicago (August 9th – 12th) for the first time. Excitement, nerves and a whole lot of other emotions and feelings are running through me right now, but I’ll learn to deal.
Wizard World, who has shows all over the US including Philly, Austin, New Orleans and Toronto, is an excellent opportunity to get the San Diego Comic Con experience on a smaller scale. They have panels with some big names, including Stan Lee, William Shatner, David Acuna and CAFU just to name a few, as well as photo-ops, cosplayers and booths upon booths of comic-con goodness.
There are a few panels I definitely want to hit…and a few I’m thinking I might try out. I also love checking out Artist Alley at the Cons — so much talent there.
What about everyone else? Anyone hitting up Wizard World Chicago? I’m going to attempt live-tweeting some of the things going on, you can follow me personally at @mels80. I may even set up a “tweet-up” if anyone is interested. Granted, I’m not celebrity but it’d be awesome to put faces with names I see a lot.
