Comic-Con 2013: A Few Of My Favorite Things

Comic-Con 2013: A Few Of My Favorite Things post thumbnail image

Now that Comic-Con is in the rear view mirror, I can take the time to reflect on some of the highlights of this past year. Honestly, just being able to attend is a huge highlight. I know many of you out there want to go but can’t. Maybe you don’t get badges. Maybe you just can’t afford it. I don’t take the fact that I’ve been able to attend three times lightly. I cherish every year and trip! That said, here are a few of my personal highlights from San Diego Comic-Con 2013!

1. Nerd HQ

I love Nerd HQ. I’ve attended once before and will continue to go as long as it happens. This year I was lucky enough to attend three panels but sadly missed out on the dance party and didn’t get to hang out there as much as I wanted to. But I did get the chance to meet The Nerdy Girlie finally! Hopefully next year we’ll be able to have more time to chat. I loved the new venue as well and felt there was plenty of space for everyone. Plus the fact that I could get baseball nachos? Yes please. Read more here.

2. Loki

Do I even really need to explain this one? Just this past weekend a friend asked “Were you there during Loki?!” and she’s not even someone who’s into comic books or conventions. That truly was a once in a life time moment and I’m glad I went for Hall H instead of the “Captain America: Winter Soldier” signing. It’s something I’ll never forget. Read more here!

3. Captain America & Winter Soldier

I’m actually not even talking about the panel! I’m talking about cosplaying. It was great to team up with Katy and spend Friday and Saturday as two of our favorite characters. We were stopped for photos, had people shout “Bucky!” and even ended up on Marvel.com! It was a really fun experience and I can’t wait to do it again.

4. Psych: The Musical

The line was a bit of a mess and the wait was long, but it was worth it. I got to see some of the cast in person, and even got to high five James and Dule’. The episode was hilarious as well. When I see people mention how many days are left until it airs, I do an evil laugh and think to myself how I’ve already seen it. Just one of the many reasons why I love Comic-Con! Read more here!

5. Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter

I loved Peggy Carter the moment I saw her on screen and was beyond thrilled (as were many of you) to hear something was in the works for her. The event was well organized, Hayley looked beautiful as always, and the One Shot was great, as to be expected. Plus I saw some fellow Winter Soldier cosplayers and that really made my day. Read more here!

I could seriously go on and on and include things like the Kings of Con party, eating cupcakes almost everyday, interviewing “Psych” and “Supernatural” but I didn’t want this to turn into one big ole’ post. But of course, one of the major highlights was meeting some of you. Again, I am horrible with names but you know who you are. Some of you it was just a quick “I love your blog” in passing, others it was having a nice chat during the Aushole party. Some of you even bought myself and other WNA members drinks. I really appreciate all the kind words and support from you guys. Honestly, without our readers and followers, there’s no website. We do this to hopefully help you guys out. Even if it’s as simple as answering a question about where to eat breakfast.

We still have some Comic-Con 2013 posts to get to but before you know it, it’ll be time to start posting about San Diego Comic-Con 2014. In the words of the great Samuel L. Jackson in “Jurassic Park,” hold onto your butts!
