Prepare Now For SDCC 2011

It might sound silly but I’m pretty serious. If you’re considering going to San Diego Comic Con next year start planning and saving money now. I’ve heard that passes will go on sale in September but that’s not confirmed. I believe they’ll cost $105 for 4 Day. That’s what they were selling them for at SDCC this year. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, even if you aren’t 100% sure if you’re going or not buy your passes anyway! You can ask for a refund if it turns out that you can’t go for whatever reason.

If you’re already determined to go you might want to start checking out hotels. I’m not sure when Travel Planners will open up but it never hurts to have a backup hotel just incase you get screwed by Travel Planners. As of right now travel websites like Orbitz or Hotels.com won’t be of much help since they aren’t open that for into July 2011. If you go to parent websites like Hilton or Wyndam you’ll have better luck of seeing what’s already open. I do know that Motel 6 and Ramada are taking reservations for July 2011. I’ve actually already booked my room! There is one website that’s been helpful with seeing what’s open and that is SanDiegoHotels.com.

When booking your hotel don’t forget to look for any discounts like AAA or see if you can use your points/rewards. If they don’t let you book using your rewards keep trying and perhaps ask for someone higher up. It never hurts to ask. I actually used AAA for my hotel and saved $200. It might not seem like much but when you’re planning a trip like this it’s huge. If you have friends or family that work for a certain hotel chain ask and see if they can hook you up. Remember, it’s not what you know but who you know!
