Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter

On Friday I was able to land tickets to the screening of the latest Marvel One Shot, Agent Carter. We arrived early since it was first come/first serve but surprisingly the theater wasn’t packed. Before entering the theater they asked for our cameras and phones in true Marvel fashion. Once everyone was situated the screening started.

Obviously Marvel hates us because the first scene we see is from the end of “Captain America: The First Avenger” where Cap has to put it in the water. Honestly, it’s like they wanted us to be depressed. We see Peggy sitting there with her head in her hands, mourning the loss of Steve. It then picks up a year later with Peggy working in an office and not seeing any field action. Whenever a call comes in for agents, the men are always picked. Surprise, surprise. At the time they’re on the hunt for “Zodiac” who’s been eluding the agency. One night after the boys head out for a drink and leave Peggy in a dark office alone, a call comes in with the location of Zodiac. Being the bad ass that she is, she writes down the location and heads off on her own. What follows is a lot of ass kicking done with style. I could tell you everything that happens but where’s the fun in that? You’ll have to wait to see it when it hits the “Iron Man 3″ blu-ray later this year! Here’s the official description though from Marvel along with some photos from the event:

Picking up where the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER left off, “Agent Carter” tracks British operative Peggy Carter (THE FIRST AVENGER’s Hayley Atwell) as she joins the nascent S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. As she searches for the enigmatic “Zodiac” key, Agent Carter also battles her sexist, bureaucratic boss, Agent Flynn (THE WEST WING’s Bradley Whitford), who thinks women have no place in the secret-agent business.

Co-starring Dominic Cooper (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER) as Howard Stark, “Agent Carter” is the fourth entry in the fan-favorite “Marvel One-Shot” Short Film Series, which exists within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

MARVEL ONE-SHOT: AGENT CARTER will be available as a bonus feature on “Marvel’s Iron Man 3,” debuting on HD Digital and HD Digital 3D September 3, 2013, and on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy and On Demand September 24, 2013.

After the one shot ended, the crew and Hayley Atwell came out for a little Q&A session which was pretty interesting. Marvel really seems to enjoy putting these together. A fan suggested adding them to the beginning of the movies when they hit the theater, an idea that I think sounds awesome. They said they’ve been trying to work something like that out and hope to be able to do it in the future. Honestly I’d rather watch a 15 minute one shot then all the movie previews and commercials they throw at us now. Another fan suggested making Captain Marvel the next star of a one shot, maybe as a way to introduce her for inclusion into the MCU. Can I get a “hell yeah!” for that idea?

Oh and there’s an after credit scene attached to the One Shot. Yes, you read that right and it’s pretty funny. If you’re a fan of Dum Dum, you’ll be happy! Here are a few photos from the event. If you were there let us know what you thought in the comments!
