SDCC ’12: Packing…Don’t Forget!

SDCC Tips/Info

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with packing suitcases. My suitcase was ready weeks in advance, forcing me to live out of it while still at home in some cases. I consider myself a founder of the stay-cation movement, only instead of staying close to home, I just stayed home and lived out of a suitcase.

Over the years, and after many trials and tribulations, I have finally started making a packing list before I travel.

Sure you can just tell yourself, “whatever I forget, I can buy there” but do you really want to spend your convention money on a $5.00 deodorant when you have plenty at home? Do you really want to be scrambling to pack hours before your flight leaves when you still have buttons to sew onto your steampunk hero costume? Of course not!

Take a moment to browse this handy-dandy list, full of things you will not want to forget and add them to your own packing list!

What else are you adding to your packing list?

  • You should put a caveat at the start of this entry that this is only for guys and/or people who buy comics/posters/art at Comic Con. I’ve been going for years and I don’t need half of this stuff.

Also, you sort of forgot about women 😉 We pack totally different things!

    • Yes, I am a lady and I do use all that stuff so, well, to each their own! The list is for sure more geared towards folks who are going to SDCC to shop and will need to ship stuff back.

I didn’t add some of the more “personal” stuff, like my clothing
Underwear x 6, Sleep pants x 3, t-shirts x 7, and also my day-by-day outfit lists that cross check what shoes I’m taking for each outfit. That crazy stuff is better left out, right! 🙂

  • I have an almost identical list! The only other items on mine are rubber bands and Kleenex. Also, I think snacks and drinks are especially important for Sunday. In addition to the generally ridiculous prices throughout the weekend, SDCC compounds the problem on Sunday when they close many of their food offerings for the day.

  • I’d add a couple more specific things because everyone forgets them including myself:

    Toothbrush/tooth paste
    Water bottle
    Gallon of water
    Light jacket
    Deck of cards
    Mini first aid kit
Extra plastic bags for separating stuff like clothes already worn/unworn
Shampoo/soap if you don’t want to use the ones they provide
Wet wipes to clean hands or remove make up
    Body lotion, face lotion
    Face wash
Wristlet or small purse for partying
    Razor for shaving
2 extra outfits for you never know
Small plastic baggies for snacks or separating small items.

I think that covers it all for me. I hate forgetting little stuff hahha!

    • 1. a wine opener or waiter’s corkscrew. Comes up a lot actually.

      2. A thermos. You can put coffee in it, or if your adventurous you can premix some liquor and put it in there. I think me and a friend had margaritas in the thermos one year. Wasnt the best but was still pretty good!
