That’s right! The one and only Mark Hamill will be attending New York Comic Con. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell you who he is but just in case some of you are living under a rock or in a galaxy far far away:
Mark Hamill became an international pop-culture icon as Luke Skywalker in George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy. His diverse career as a performer has encompassed television, movies, Broadway and more recently, he has branched out creatively as a writer, producer and director.
and a little information on his Comic related endeavors:
An avid comic book collector, historian and writer, his story for The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror was reprinted in deluxe format and is available in bookstores worldwide. DC Comics published his essays of the Batman mythos in two different volumes. His twelve years as the voice of the Joker remains a fan favorite as is his two appearances as the multi-personalitied villain The Trickster on The Flash television series, which were edited together and released as a feature film outside the US.
He created his own comic book anti-hero, The Black Pearl for Dark Horse Comics which he co-wrote with Eric Johnson in a hit five-issue mini-series. A cult favorite, the series was a hit with readers and critics alike, selling out its’ initial first printing and later collected in a single volume, now a highly prized collector’s item. The film adaptation, written by Hamill, Johnson and Paul Tamasy is under option and will be Hamill’s second feature as a director.
My NYCC partners in crime (Sadly, not Mel this time) are huge and I mean huge “Star Wars” fans and are beyond excited that he’s going to be there. No word yet on if he’s going to be hosting a panel or any other events. Once I have the details though I’ll be sure to pass them along.
