In case your unaware, iZombie is a show about…wait for it…zombies. Not your run-of-the-mill mindless hordes, but a few individuals that happen to need brains to survive after direct or indirect exposure to an energy drink/ tainted drug cocktail. The show is a procedural drama, comedy and zombie fest rolled into one. It takes place in Seattle and follows Liv Moore (Rose McIver), a zombie that works at a coroner’s office with Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli) and helps Detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) solve crimes–by eating the victims brains, seeing visions from their lives, and adapting their personalities. If you have yet to watch the show, be warned there are some spoilers ahead. Also, if you have yet to watch the show–go watch it. It’s awesome!
Diane Ruggiero (Producer/Writer)
From what she can tell us, season four picks up three months after the events of this season’s finale. The world knows about zombies and a wall is built around “New Seattle”. Jason Dohring will return as Chase Graves and who knows (well the ones that do aren’t saying), may still be a possible romantic interest for Liv. With the new season, we will see a return of Liv’s family. Absent since the end of season one, now knowing about zombies, they might feel bad about ghosting Liv.
Rose McIver (Liv Moore)
In the aftermath of the zombie population exposure. There will of course be extremes of both pro-zombie and pro-human camps. Liv is going to be stuck in the middle, she can sympathize with both sides and as Rose says, “Liv doesn’t deal with absolutes.” She is going to want to find a way to co-exist. Liv always has entertaining personalities, and the new season is going to have some good ones. Dowager, hockey goon, and Rom-Com brain top the list. That list is making me so excited for next season!
Rahul Kohli (Ravi Chakrabarti)
The last we saw Ravi he was being scratched by Liv, to test his new cure. There was a cure, but it was in limited supply and what they did have was stolen. Listening to Rahul, and he didn’t say it out right, but (to me) it seems like he is going to be human this season. If that is the case, it means his cure works. That is huge, it means that people won’t have to be zombies. I think though, there will be a number that like the idea of zombie-ism. I will say though, I liked Rahul’s pitch of zombie-hulk Ravi–maybe we could have a spin-off? (Cue the sad music and Ravi hitchhiking.)
Aly Michalka (Peyton Charles)
Peyton is another human among zombies, and much like Liv is going to be able to see both sides of the story. She is also going to be busy, she’s working for the mayor and working as a prosecutor. Zombies, just like humans are going to be peaceful and not. Violence will be inevitable from both sides. As Aly says, the rules of the past seasons are being tossed out the window, I think for all of them the stakes are going to be much higher.
David Anders (Blaine DeBeers)
Now I liked “good” Blaine, the one he was pretending to be this past season. But I love “bad” Blaine. Like David said, ” He’s [Blaine] the guy you love to hate, and hate to love.” With Robert Knepper (Angus DeBeers) added as a cast regular, it looks like Blaine is going to have more “entanglements with papa.” Blaine is going to a big player in the black-market brain game, but I wonder how Angus is going to fit into the scheme of things. David said that in the show there will be people trying to get and become zombies (As close to immortality as they can get), I wonder if papa Angus will be cornering that market.
Malcolm Goodwin (Clive Babineaux) & Robert Buckley (Major Lilywhite)
Major, opted to be a zombie (again) and looking to next season, and we saw this a bit in the last episode of this season–his allegiance is with Fillmore Graves. Robert couldn’t say too much about what is in store for Major, but I don’t think it would be out of character for him to go full pro-zombie. Clive is going to have a rough go of things, now that his (newly reunited) girlfriend just became a zombie. But as Robert points out, there is the perk of her being a cheap dinner date.
