Gkids has acquired North American rights from Studio Ghibli for Isao Takahata’s classic film Only Yesterday. An English-language version is being produced by Studio Ghibli with the cast to include Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Ashley Eckstein (Her Universe, Star Wars Rebels) and Alison Fernandez (Orange is the New Black). The film will hit theaters in 2016 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
