Yesterday the Toucan Blog posted a new article about open registration. While no dates were announced, this is a must read. If you plan on attending San Diego Comic-Con, you should be reading every article they release. It’s that serious. It sounds like open registration will be following the lead of Pre-Reg where you could log into the landing page early and enter the waiting room. Here’s all the information:
Comic-Con International will send an email with the Open Online Registration date and time to all eligible members at least 48 hours in advance of the sale. At least 24 hours prior to the sale, all eligible members will receive an additional email with their personal registration code and a link to the EPIC Registration landing page.
On the day of the sale, the landing page will open at 7:00 AM Pacific Time (PT) for members to authorize their registration code and enter the waiting room. The landing page will remain open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM for registration code authorization. However, there is no advantage in arriving early. At 9:00 AM, EPIC Registration will close the waiting room and no additional members may enter, even if you have a registration code! You must log in to the waiting room sometime before 9:00 AM to be eligible to participate.
Remember, there is no need to sit in the waiting room for two hours before the sale begins. Simply enter your registration code 10–15 minutes before 9:00 AM and you will be placed in line randomly when the sale begins sometime after 9:00 AM. We anticipate that it will take a little over an hour to sell-out of all badge types, so please expect a moderate wait time once you are inside the waiting room.
One thing that’s different is in years past, during open registration you could purchase four badges. This year it’s down to three. I’m not sure I agree with that change, mainly because of families. If you have one child that still gets a child badge and another that’s older, it’s fine for now. But what about when that child ages out? You have the possibility of families attending different days or maybe even half of your family not getting badges at all. I’m interested to see how that plays out.
Here’s the information you should have on hand when the sale opens:
Credit Card Number, Expiration Date, and CVV Number/Card Security Code
This includes the Member ID of anyone you’re purchasing for! If you’re part of a group, make sure everyone has the info they need.
While we don’t have a date, this post makes me believe it’s coming up soon. Now is a good time to double check with your group and make sure everyone has their funds in order. If your group has all decided on which credit card is going to be used, make sure that person has your money.
