Imagine this; you are walking back from a night out on the town in San Diego’s Gaslamp District. When all of a sudden it hits you; late night snack craving! You know what you want but are unsure where to go get it. Well, salvation is at hand, my brothers and sisters, for I am here to spread the gospel of Ralph’s and deliver you from temptation of the over-priced and under-satisfying hotel vending machine.
For those of you who may not know, Ralph’s is a chain of supermarkets in the CA region that has a full selection of everything you would expect, as well as a fully stocked liquor collection, a very high-end deli, and a generously diverse selection of ready to eat meals.
Located on G Streets between 1st & 2nd Avenue, this supermarket, which is open 24/7, has been a staple for experienced con-goers looking to stock up on supplies, food, drinks, and snacks. Are you staying at a hotel that doesn’t offer a free fridge (like the Hard Rock)? No problem, go to Ralph’s and purchase a cooler. Need spoons and a bowl? Ralph’s got you. Need a folding chair for those long hours waiting on line? Ralph’s.
Seriously, they have almost everything you’ll need.
I do have one tip though, go get your lunch here. Sure, it is a farther walk than most places near the convention center but multiple cash registers and people working there means you can be in and out in about as much time as it takes someone to get a “freshly” made sandwich at the K Street Subway. And you’re drink will have ice too, something that tends to run out FAST between the hours of 10 and 8. They also offer tables in a shaded sidewalk section for outdoor eating.
Be sure to check the store’s site for coupons and the circulation flyer as the con approaches for more deals.
