San Diego Handlery Hotel Comic Con Review

San Diego Handlery Hotel

My friend found us a room in the Handlery for under $200 for two nights, for two people. She used Priceline. Parking is an additional $12 a day, so factor that in. They did let us park in one of the lots before we could check in, which was helpful.

The Handlery has wireless available but honestly I can’t report on that because I was so wiped after each day, I never touched a computer. Their website says: “Wireless Internet ($9.95 per day; complimentary in lobby and Premier Guestrooms)”. Glad I didn’t feel the urge to connect. There is a business center where you can get online if you don’t want to pay the wireless fee.

The lobby is beautiful, just like the photo on the website, but the rooms are a tad small. Our room was still clean. We were on the first floor, right next to the exit and parking, which was convenient.

The breakfast area looked nice but it was still your run of the mill continental motel food. There were waiters getting us fruit and coffee but nothing too extraordinary. The coffee wasn’t to my taste, or my friends’ taste- possibly too dark and too strong. Made us sick. But honestly, it’s hotel coffee. What can you expect?

No fridge or microwave. It did have a coffee maker in the bathroom but we didn’t use it. The place was fine; it worked for what we wanted. The beds were definitely comfortable, something I looked forward to at the end of the day. The shuttles to and from the convention center never left me waiting very long- max. I think I waited 5 minutes one time.

Overall, the Handlery was nice. For the price, I’d stay there again.
