HeroesCon

It seems like everyday I’m finding out about another convention! This one is HeroesCon in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s taking place this weekend, June 3rd-5th, at the Charlotte Convention Center. If you don’t know much about the event here’s some information from the website:

HEROES CONVENTION was founded in 1982 by Shelton Drum, owner of Charlotte’s Heroes Aren’t Hard To Find comics shop. Since then the convention has become famous for its comics-first and family-friendly atmosphere, where fans can mingle directly with professionals and exhibitors. Boasting an incredible guest list built mainly on reputation and goodwill, HeroesCon is known nationwide as a “must” on the summer schedule, drawing fans, exhibitors, and creators from every region of the country to the Charlotte Convention Center.

It sounds like a great time! A one day pass is only $15 and a weekend pass is $30. If you have children 12 and under they get in for free! It doesn’t get much better than that!

Here’s a small sample of the guest list:

Neal Adams
Nick Cardy
Tim Sale
Terry Moore
Andrew Robinson
Randy Green
Stephanie Buscema

They even feature an “Indie Island!”

A 10,000+ square-foot section at the very center of HeroesCon’s Artists Alley, filled with the very finest from the worlds of indie comics, mini-comics, webcomics, designers, printmakers.. it’s a bazaar! 2011 will be our seventh and by far MOST AWESOME year, and we will be adding people to the guest list steadily from now until the show itself! Excelsior!

  1. Being a NC local, HeroesCon was my first show ever, back around 1994 I believe. My father drove me up to Charlotte from the coast, I had $100 cash to spend, and had no idea what I was getting into. I’ve been a few times since, and its a great large venue comic show. Highly recommended for anyone, especially first-time con-goers on the east coast. Won’t be making it this year though, gonna return to the con scene after a few years absence by heading down to DragonCon!!
