One of my favorite part about Comic-Con is the coverage that video games receive. I am an avid campaign only gamer whenever I can squeeze in some time on the weekends so I always look forward to taking the opportunity at many of the con that I attend provides to play hands-on demos and get a peek at new trailers for many of the new releases that I will more than likely play on my Xbox 360 within a few months.
Last year I had a lot of fun taking a photo on the Dead Rising 2 slicecycle, entering ginormous the Red Faction mech, and playing a demo of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Although I missed it, BioWare hosting an amazing inflatable sword fight across the street from the convention center promoting Dragon Age II.
Although there are several events that showcase video games through out the year there always seems to be more news and announcements. With E3 coming up soon my expectations might completely change but until this this is a small list of games that I hope to see or hear something about.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Billed as the final part in the Ezio trilogy, I expect to see at least another panel from Ubisoft highlighting this highly successful property.
Mass Effect 3 – Although it was delayed until Q1 2012 I still hope to see BioWare bring the heat in terms of something fun to promote the final chapter of this game. My guess would be that we will see a booth combining this and another anticipated BioWare release, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMO.
X-Men: Destiny – This is a new take on the X-Men franchise giving you the opportunity to play a brand new mutant of your choice where the desicions you make will either lead you to join the X-Men or fight against them with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. I expect to see this in either the Marvel Games panel that Agent M traditionally hosts or at an Activision panel where they can couple this with the upcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Prototype 2 & Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Gears of War 3 – Another trilogy game, I can see Microsoft really pimping out the Gears franchise at CCI. Hopefully the Microsoft presence will also mean a SOMETHING in regards to the very rumored HALO anniversary remake utilizing the Halo: Reach engine.
Marvel Universe MMO – Not to be out-done by the successful launch of DC Universe Online, Marvel is teaming up with Secret Identity Studios to bring us a free to play experience that will be written by fan favorite Brian Michael Bendis. While it has only been announced for PC, I expect to see something in regards to a platform availability.
