Finally, the news that many of you have been waiting for has been announced! Registration for hotels will open March 9th, PT. You can find all the info here. Here’s a sample of some of the hotels on the list:
Andaz San Diego
Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside
Crowne Plaza San Diego
Town & Country Resort
Bay Club Hotel & Marina
You can find the list and a PDF of all the hotels at the CCI website. Some information to keep in mind is once confirmed, all hotel reservations will require a deposit of at least one night’s room and tax for each room booked. This is to try and cut down on people booking various hotels and then picking and choosing later which one they actually want. All hotels are fully refundable until May 10th. If you try to cancel from May 11th to June 8th you’l be charged a $100 cancellation fee which will come out of your deposit. After June 9th your shit out of luck.
Now the breakdown for Hotel Day:
Starting at 9:00 AM PT on March 9, 2011, you will be able to access the reservation request form via this page or by calling 1-877-55-COMIC (1-877-552-6642) or 212-532-1660.
•You can request up to 20 hotel choices in order of preference. If you choose to request only 1 or 2 hotels, and these hotels are not available when your form is processed, you may not get a hotel room for Comic-Con. The more choices you make the better chance you have of getting a room for Comic-Con.
•All reservation requests will be processed in date/time stamp order. Once you submit your request, it will be processed in order. Forms received within three seconds of each other are considered to have arrived at the same time and will be processed in a random order within that three-second grouping.
•A recap e-mail listing the hotel choices you submitted to Travel Planners will be sent to you within 48 hours. Please review it to make sure it is correct and follow the directions on your e-mail if the information is incorrect.
•You will get your reservation confirmation e-mail listing the hotel or hotels where you have reservations no later than March 15, 2011. If you are happy with your hotels, please follow the directions on your confirmation and go back online to pay the required deposit within 5 days of receiving your confirmation or your reservation will be cancelled. If you are not happy with your hotel and do not plan to confirm your reservation, please log on and cancel your reservation so another attendee can have a chance at getting your room.
•All reservations require an advance deposit equal to at least one night’s room and tax. Deposits are required when you log back in to guarantee your reservation and must be submitted within 5 days of receiving your confirmation or you will lose your reservation and you will not have a hotel room for Comic-Con.
I already have my hotel which means I’ll be sitting back and watching the chaos via Twitter and the SDCC Facebook page. I wish all you luck though in your quest for a hotel. It’s interesting that they added a phone in option. Hopefully this will cut down on the server demand. Of course it could cause the phone lines to implode as well.
